All Steam Jet Vacuum Systems
An All Steam Jet Vacuum Has the Following Characteristics:
Advantages:
- No Moving Parts, simple operation, low maintenance, high reliability, handles vapors and some particulates
- Small and large sizes available, suction connections regularly to 24" dia., some up to 48" dia.
- Large design suction pressure range, typically from 0.3 mm HgA to atmospheric pressure
- Most corrosion resistant systems choice with many materials of construction available (316 SS, Hastelloy, graphite)
- No electricity, no ignition sources, no lubrication
- Used for reactors, dryers, evaporators, strippers, distillation columns, filters
- Lowest first cost
Disadvantages:
- Requires plant steam be available
- Steam condensate is mixed with the process material for disposal and must be removed from a vacuum space
- Can back flow steam condensate into process suction line if shut down improperly
